Bookmarking with Delicious
Feb 2nd, 2009 by hwwright
Introduction:
Do you have bookmarks stored on your computer at home and at school? What about on your presentation station? Want those bookmarks all in one place? Well, Delicious will solve the issue and store all of your bookmarks on the web so they can be added to and retrieved from anywhere. Sharing these bookmarks with students and/or colleagues also becomes a breeze.
Watch this video overview of social bookmarking using Delicious created by the folks at Commoncraft.

Things to Consider:
- Before creating an account, think about a username that may work. If you are using this with your classroom you may part of the school/room number in the username. (i.e. Sunset307) If a group of teachers want to create a grade level/content area account they all can add to consider the school name and grade level or content area. (i.e. sunsetbiology)
Getting Started:
1. Create an account at http://www.delicious.com and begin adding bookmarks to that account.
- To view written directions on creating an account download the Delicious-Account Setup and Adding Bookmarks QRD (.pdf)
2. After your Delicious account is created and a few bookmarks have been added take a look at some other features.
- Importing Bookmarks (.pdf)- Import the bookmarks you already have in your browser(s) at home and/or at work.
- Installing Bookmarking Buttons (.pdf)-Too time consuming to add bookmarks? Install these buttons in your browser to add a bookmark with one click.
- Bundling Tags (.pdf)- Are your Delicious bookmarks too cluttered? Learn how to group your tags into bundles.
- Sharing Bookmarks (.pdf)- See how easy it is to send others to your account to view your bookmarks. Add users to your network to truly collaborate.
