Movie Maker

Introduction: Windows Movie Maker is a basic video editing application included with Windows XP. It includes movie-editing tools as effects, transitions, and titles. In addition, you can edit the audio track and add timeline narrations. When your project is completed, you can export your movie in a variety of formats.

Considerations:
- Movie Maker is a free Microsoft program installed on all student computers with Wondows XP or Vista.
- The most common format for saving a MM movie is Window Media Viewer (WMV).
- To play on a Mac and Windows computer save your movie as an AVI
- You need a different application (i.e. Power DVD) to burn a DVD.
- When creating your movie you must place all pictures, video, and audio that you use in the same folder on your computer.

- Open Movie Maker: Start > All Programs > Windows Movie Maker
- Capture Video (Possible Sources)
- Capture from Video Device (Video Camera, Digital Camera, etc.)
- Import Video (on your computer)
- Import Pictures ( on your computer)
- Import Audio or Music (on your computer)
- Edit Movie Options:
- Drag movie segments to the Storyboard/Timelime. Within the timeline or storyboard you can re-arrange the video segment order.
- Add Video Effects
- Insert Video Transitions
- Create Titles and Credits
- Finish Movie: The most common form is to “Save to the Computer.” This form allows you to upload your movie to a website like TeacherTube.
