WebQuests for technology Integration

As we all think about how to integrate technology into our curricula in a well thought out manner, many teachers have asked about WebQuests. Some of us have taken classes from Bernie Dodge or Tom March on how to develop them. I have been asked often for resources that contain good WebQuests that are already designed for classroom use. Using Podcasts to Support Foreign Language Learning

I remember spending hours in language labs going over chinese dialogue tapes as I tried to learn Mandarin in college. This constant practice was very helpful but far from convenient. Now, since I spend a lot of time in my car going from school to school, I have begun to refresh my chinese by listening to dialogues I download onto my ipod. The great part is it is all free and high quality! In fact on the Internet you can find free, high quality audio files or podcasts for just about any major language. (more…)

Integrating Technology into Core Content Areas

Program Overview: Teach the Teachers (TTT) is a fantastic week-long summer professional development experience that incorporates effective lesson design, best practices and integration of instructional technology tools (levy laptop, web resources, digital still & video cameras) into core content areas.

During TTT, certificated teachers attend with a partner from their school for a full week in the summer and collaboratively develop a successful technology integrated unit of study in one of the following sessions:

  • Integrating Multimedia with Video into Core Content Areas
  • Webquest (New session offering this year)

Locations & Dates: TTT will be held in both the Edmonds and Seattle School Districts as a non-residential program. Seattle teachers taking the class in Edmonds will use a Edmonds School District loaner laptop for the week of the class.

Note: (teams sign up for only 1 week of classes)

  • July 23rd-27th Daily 8am-5pm
  • July 30th-August 3rd Daily 8am-5pm

Cost: The tuition cost per teacher for TTT this year is $75. Seattle teachers need to complete the online registration process no later than Friday, May 11th, 2007.

Clock Hours & Credits: 40 clock hours or 4 university credits are available.
