Assessment strategies play a vital role in helping teachers understand the extent and depth of student learning. Depending on the situation there are many assessment options to utilize. For multimedia porojects, rubrics and checklist are helpful assessment tools because they describe in detail what the student is expected to accomplish and the evaluation criteria.

Information about Rubrics*:
1. Rubrics consist of objectives, performance characteristics, and scores that indicate the degree to which the objectives are met.
2. Rubrics should be introduced to the students at the very beginning of a project unit, allowing students to understand the criteria for assessment before they start the project.

Getting Started:
1. Go to Rubistar
2. Click on the Multimedia Link.
3. Browse through the different multimedia rubric (or other) templates.
4. Select a rubric template you want to use.
5. Complete the registration information at the top of the page.
6. Click on each pull-down menu to select the category. You can edit the wording the criteria.
8. Click on the Submit button to download your rubric.
9. Click on the Download button.
10. Click on the Spreadsheet button.
11. Click Save File and save to the desktop.
12. Your new rubric will open with Excel.
13. You can create more rubrics and merge them using copying and paste functions.
